Tom Olsen, maker of the Politics of Sand documentary and creator of the accompanying museum exhibit, was given one of only 150 Limited Edition Oregon Sesquicentennial Blankets produced through Pendleton Woolen Mills.
The blanket (#90 of #150) will be donated to the History Center. In February, President Barack Obama received blanket #44. Portland designer Patty Fogarty—creator of the blanket design—chose Mount Hood to represent Oregon's past, present and future. "It has watched over our maverick innovations for 150 years. In this bold design,” she explains, “15 trilliums and 15 ferns each represent a decade of statehood and border our iconic mountain.” |

The Cannon Beach History Center & Museum’s Oregon 150 project, POLITICS OF SAND, was honored as one of the top projects for the Sesquicentennial year by the Oregon 150 Organization.
