Forecasters expect tides as low as minus 3 feet on the mornings of June 23 and June 24, (and very low through August) as measured at Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. No matter where you can be along the coast there is a great place to go during a low tide... just ask a local. Like a curtain lifting from a stage, the tide sweeps back to reveal the players: thick-armed ochre sea stars, slippery mats of seaweed and clutches of green anemones shaped like rolled up socks in a drawer.
