|Oregon Coast Notes - News|
On the Oregon Coast we live in one of the most dangerous earthquake zones in the world. The Cascadia Subduction Zone just off of the West Coast is capable of producing extremely powerful earthquakes that bring with them the threat of a devasting tsunami like the one off of Japan in 2011. We are continuing to see the debris from the Japan earthquake wash up on Oregon shores, so the reality of such an earthquake off of Oregon is plain to see.
The Oregon Department of Emergency Management wants you to be prepared when an earthquake strikes - they want you to know how to survive an earthquake and tsunami on the Oregon Coast. The Oregon Tsunami Road Show is coming to your town or a town near you in March 2013. Learn what you need to build a survival kit, how to create a survival plan for you and your family, and what steps you need to take immediately when an earthquake strikes.
If you can't attend one of these workshops, you can still get the information you need directly from the Department of Emergency Management's website. Here is another great resource put out by the Department called Living on Shaky Ground.
