The Bands

Sister Swing – Sacramento, CA - Performing for sold-out venues at jazz festivals up and down the west coast, and entertaining music lovers of all ages, Sister Swing is bringing back the 3-part harmonies of the thirties and forties. The tunes of the Andrews Sisters, the Boswell Sisters, and Glen Miller bring back fond memories to those who experienced those years as well as new entertainment to the current wave of swing dancers, young and old.

Gator Beat – Sonoma, CA - West Coast's premier Zydeco/Cajun band, original and traditional music. They play at least 40 festivals a year, and work the club circuit from the West Coast to The Crescent City. They have an ever growing fan base that includes a strong core of Cajun-dancers just about everywhere they perform.

Steve Lucky & the Rumba Bums – San Francisco, CA   Called "Instant Crowd Favorites" by the San Francisco Blues Festival and "Consummate musicians and entertainers" by New York City's Lincoln Center, Lucky and Getit really shine before a live audience. They've earned a reputation as captivating entertainers with "superior musicianship" (Downbeat), engaging audiences at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Half Note Jazz Club in Athens, Greece, the San Francisco Blues Festival, as the house band at the Derby in Hollywood, and hundreds of nightclubs, festivals, and performing arts centers around the world.

Toot Sweet – San Carlos, CA - The Toot Sweet Jazz Band is well known in the SF region as a high energy band that radiates enthusiasm and plays lively and entertaining traditional jazz music. Their own energetic style reflects the influence of Turk Murphy, Bob Scobey, Lu Watters, Eddie Condon and Louis Armstrong. They have an ever expanding and diversifying repertory of great music that is highly entertaining and very danceable.

Stompy Jones – San Francisco, CA -   (review) “Stompy Jones performed at the David Patrone $10,000 Swing Dance Spectacular in the Dreamcatcher Showroom at Viejas Casino on Sunday night, and they had the dance floor jam-packed for every single song. And with good reason. No other band in the world has such an innate understanding of the sound, rhythm and presentation of 1940's small band rhythm and blues, the music that bridged the gap between big band swing and rock and roll. This is almost entirely due to the voracious, almost obsessive attention to detail paid by founder and bassist “Little” David Rose.”   The San Diego Concert Photography Examiner

Black Tuesday, Rocklin, CA -     The Black Tuesday Jazz Band has entertained audiences throughout CA and NV since the early ‘90's. Leader, Hal Needham, continues to hold to his original promise, “trad to swing, fun music is our thing”. This formula has kept Black Tuesday busy at jazz societies all around California and the NW.
Bay Area Youth Bands – County schools will be represented in special Friday afternoon/evening performances.
Evolution has played yearly at the South Coast Clambake Jazz Festival, and other regional and national jazz events including the Medford Jazz Jubilee, the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, and the Sun Valley Jazz Jubilee. Their youthful energy and passion for music is evident in every concert.

It’s About Time Big Band - The renewed interest in the Big Band Swing music style is the drawing force behind the organization of “It’s About Time Big Band”.  The sounds of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and others, plus favorites from the fifties and early sixties will provide an evening of nostalgia and dancing.  This band is a coastal favorite and performs to rave reviews!

Solid Brass – Dancers and listeners will enjoy a swing era style with pleasant vocals.  Any resemblance to The Coos Bay Clambake Jazz Band is purely intentional.

Soulpie - is a collaboration of talented and experienced musicians, dedicating themselves to the highest standards of performance and showmanship. The band's sound is a synthesis of American musical traditions from the clean, precise, jazz-influenced sounds of New York City to the gritty soul and blues of Chicago and Memphis.

The Young Bucs take you back to the ‘50’s, but having been a teen during that era is not a prerequisite to enjoying this music.  The style and themes of the music from the doo-wop era are classic and timeless.  Audiences of all ages continue to be entertained as The Young Bucs bring it to life.
