Activities for all ages are planned for Home School Days and spring break at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. In addition to daily animal feedings and hands-on exhibits, the Aquarium will offer animal encounters, sleepovers and a trip to the mudflats of an estuary.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy themselves at the beach while learning about marine science and spending time together,” said Sean Nolan, Academic Programs Coordinator. “Our educators are deeply dedicated to inspiring kids connect with nature.”
March 18 - 19 Home School Days 10am - 5pm All ages
Presentations, experiments, and interactions with live animals are just a few of the things offered, including hands-on activities and displays for kids of all ages. World of Water Presentations, learning stations, dive presentations, an undersea lab and a Giant ocean sunfish dissection are all part of the activities. Students will learn all about the ocean world through several explorations throughout the Aquarium.
March 18 Home School Family Sleepover 6 pm to 9 am All ages
Enjoy a family slumber party! Fall asleep to the soothing sights and sounds of fish and sharks swimming overhead. Aquarium educators share information and stories about these wondrous cartilaginous creatures. $50 members, $55 nonmembers. Register in advance at (541) 867-3474 ext. 5301
March 20 Sea Lion Encounter 10am – 11am Ages 8 and up
Learn about the Aquarium’s pinnipeds, get a sea lion kiss and explore behind the scenes at the aquarium. $35 members, $40 non-members (limit 10 people per encounter) Register in advance at 541-867-3474 Ext. 2313.
March 20 Family Sleepover 6pm–9am Ages 6–up
Families spend the night in Passages of the Deep. Eat pizza, go on a scavenger hunt participate in activities. Have a late night snack then sleep with the sharks. Wake to breakfast & tour! $50 members, $55 non-members Register in advance at (541) 867-3474 ext. 5301.
March 22 & 23 Sea Squirts/Flock of Fledglings 10:30am–12pm Ages 2-5 with parent
What’s in the Mud? (spring break special) Investigate the mudflats and the animals that live there. Rubber boots and change of clothing is recommended. $15 members, $20 non-members. Register in advance at (541) 867-3474, ext. 5301.
