The Oregon Coast Aquarium will celebrate Earth Day April 22, with conservation themed displays and activities throughout the day. There will be dive presentations, information and suggestions about what you can do to make a difference to help the marine environment and its inhabitants. Earth Day crafts and activities for kids will be available throughout the day. All activities are free with admission. No pre-registration is required. The Aquarium Grounds staff will conduct a tour around Aquarium grounds at 11 am and talk about native landscaping and creating a backyard habitat for wildlife. There will be a preview of the upcoming Swampland exhibit – including bio facts and general information. There will also be specific times when swamp animals will make an appearance for those interested in close encounters with snakes and turtles. Thompson's Sanitary will be on hand with their mobile recycling unit. They will have examples of the recycling process, with a DVD presentation, compost bins, recycling roll carts and recycling stations. Also represented on Earth Day will be the Lincoln County Soil and Water District, Lincoln County Solid Waste, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oregon Sea Grant and the Surfrider Foundation. A red tail boa constrictor will be part of a Swampland animal demonstration on Earth Day at the Oregon Coast Aquarium April 22. The snake will be featured in the Aquarium's upcoming Swampland exhibit, opening Memorial Day weekend.
