|The 9th Annual Nye Beach Clambake, Seafood BBQ and Pet Parade|
This Nye Beach event is a family friendly favorite for a 4th of July Holiday at the Oregon Coast.
Since 2003, Annual Nye Beach Clambake, Seafood BBQ and Pet Parade has had a historical theme that recalls the days when Nye Beach was not a part of Newport. Nye Beach was actually a separate village connected only by a muddy, ruddy set of wooden planks.
City-organized clambakes were held in the summer season from the late 1800's until the last one in 1918. Many of the clambakes took place on the beach, with wooden tables loaded with food. Clams were cooked in the sand, inside a fire pit surrounded by rocks and with seaweed thrown in.
The modern day event has a ton of fun things for adults and children alike including but not limited to: horse drawn cart rides, face painting, arts and crafts booths, and several live local music groups. There will be plenty of great food including steamed clams, barbecue, lobster gumbo, shrimp cocktails and ...the beach.
This year's 9th annual Clambake and Seafood BBQ will be held at the Nye Beach turn-a-round on Beach Drive on Saturday July 2, 10am - 5pm. This family friendly event is a must-do for your July 4th Holiday at the ocean. The event is designed to be a fundraiser for our local non-profit service, school and charitable organizations.
We hope to see you there!
