The annual Oregon Tuna Classic – “Reelin’ In Hunger” – will take place Saturday, July 18, 2009 in Newport, and organizers hope to get boats in the water, and tuna on the docks. The tournament to help feed the hungry in Oregon is now in its fourth year, and has yet to hold an official contest in Newport due to weather conditions.

“The tournament originally started as, ‘I fish for food.’ That was started up in Garibaldi, and it was a bunch of fellows that would go tuna fishing, and then give their extra fish to their friends,” said Chuck, noting that the Classic is the fastest growing charitable tournament on the west coast, drawing participants from California, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.
