Twice a year, the Hatfield Marine Science Center gives seventh through 12th grade students a chance to explore their interest in science up close by learning first hand from marine scientists, researchers and teachers about the many different career paths open to them.
Last Friday, about 80 students from Oregon and Washington participated in Oregon Sea Grant’s career day at Hatfield.
“The goal here is to give the students a really good idea of how many different directions they can go in marine science,” said Tracy Crews, Oregon Sea Grant marine education coordinator. “It’s a growing field and there are so many different people involved with so many different positions.”
