| Oregon Coast Anglers anxious for more salmon openings |

The retention of non-hatchery coho in the Coos, Coquille, Nehalem and Yaquina rivers is concrete evidence that at least some of the state's iconic salmon runs are recovering from the decline that led them to be listed as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act. Meanwhile, the ban on the taking of non-finclipped coho remains in effect on all other coastal rivers-often to the dismay of anglers who encounter huge schools of "silvers" leaping in pools and thrashing through shallow rapids. |
