The Gallery @ Yummy wine bar & bistro is proud to premier ‘fragment’ a collection of new works by Liz Layman.
Artist Liz Layman’s creations are an attention-grabbing amalgam of painting and collage, bringing together two worlds into her unique and vivid pieces. “The collage objects in my work tend to be of nostalgic of times and people in my life” says the artist. “I realize these images are going to have a completely different meaning to anyone else.” Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Layman has traveled to over twenty countries and has found herself living in Eugene, New York City, and currently in Austin. The diverse subjects of her paintings are clearly influences by these varied experiences. “The eclectic subject matter of my paintings is similar to my life, unpredictable.” It is the unpredictable nature of her work that gives it a dynamic presence and often more times than not, an opportunity for the viewer to overlay their own life experiences in their interpretation of what they are viewing. Life experiences of the artist inspiring the recollection of life experiences in others, inviting a relevant and often times emotional experience for those viewing Layman’s creations. Join us at Yummy wine bar & bistro for the opening reception of ‘fragment’ on Thursday April 1, 2010 from 6-9pm to view the collection of new works by Liz Layman and meet the artists. Opening Reception: Thursday, April 1, 2010 6-9pm ‘fragment’ runs from April 1, 2010 through June 30, 2010.
