The longest running event of it's kind in Seaside boasts many types of Hot Rods and Custom cars.

Street Rods owe their claim to the good old American hot rod and sometimes that line is blurred as hot rods were generally built for speed. Their engines were modified and things like fenders, running boards and other items were removed to save weight and increase speed.

A hot rod is defined as a "modernized vintage automobile" These improvements may include disc brakes, air conditioning, automatic transmission, tilt steering, cruise control and a cool stereo system.

The street rod is a nostalgic trip for anyone and no one does a better job of bringing that together than "Wheels and Waves". This event in Seaside, Oregon brings thousands of people together from across the globe, including television, radio and magazines.

Today's street rods are a far cry from the early hot rods that cruised the streets of America in their early days. That is a period of time reflected in it's rods, it's music and it's fashion. Wheels and Waves presents a unique culture trip to anyone who attends.
