SEASIDE -- Beautiful bowls filled here.
The top fund-raising event of the year for the Clatsop County Women’s Resource Center will be held tonight (April 27) at the Seaside Civic and Convention Center, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Buy a bowl and fill it with nutritious soup.
Or buy the hand-crafted bowl for keeping.
Clatsop Community College potters have spent months making the one-of-a-kind bowls and firing them in Astoria’s Dragon (Anagama) Kiln.
Soups of all kinds have been prepared by 28 different cooks and chefs from Oregon Coast restaurants.
Homemade bread is donated by the Blue Scorcher Bakery & Cafe.
Micro-brew beer will be available, courtesy of Bill’s Tavern & Brew Pub, and the Fort George Brewery & Public House.
Yummy desserts by 4H-Doughhooks, among others, complete the communal table.
These donors join many others in the community supporting this event. Chief sponsors are the Clatsop Memorial Hospital Women’s Center and Lum’s Auto Center.
The Women’s Resource Center provides a 24-hour crisis line, domestic violence/sexual assault response team, emergency shelter, transitional housing, support groups, information and referrals for those who have suffered, or are threatened by violence.
The center is also known for its child advocacy, employment workshops, Hispanic outreach, and community education about violence against women, children, men and families.
This is the 8th annual Soup Bowl event, largest of its kind on the Oregon Coast.
Tickets are $30 or $15 for the soup only; free for children under five.
